Keep in shape while travelling

What’s the best way to keep active while travelling?

Simple… pack your running shoes! Very often when we travel, we seem to get too busy to keep up regular exercises. However, with an increased amount of time being stationary (in planes, buses etc), and often eating out more, travelling is when we are at most in need of exercise.

Thats the great thing about sightrunning, you can stay fit while travelling, plus its also the best way to see the sights.

Can you teach me how to run better?

Yes, that’s one of the great things about booking a run with Sydney Running Tours. Not only will your guide entertain you, they’ll also provide tips, pointers and feedback about your running form, and your training plan.  It’s up to you if you want the advice, but we are experienced runners and we love sharing what we know.

Walking Tours Sydney
More than a walking tour, its also exercise!

How does it compare to Walking Tours?

Running tours provide an opportunity to experience the city in a new and exciting way, as opposed to the traditional walking tours. They are similar to walking tours as runners will learn the local cultural, architectural and social aspects of our city, as well as having a passionate local to take photos and provide recommendations. However, the beauty of running tours is that you can save time and see more by running. It is different as the tour is at a faster pace, a way to stay fit while on holidays and offers a chance to stretch those legs after a long flight. As a private tour, we do offer the option of power walking tours, a good in-between for those that prefer walking tours.

What are the health benefits of running?

There are almost too many to count. Basically, we are born to run, and as such it’s the best, most natural form of exercise. Running burns more calories than any other prolonged cardiovascular activity, and also releases the most endorphins.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Weight loss
  • Lowered risk of cancer
  • Improved sleep
  • Increased muscle and bone strength
  • Improved posture and mobility
  • Improved heart and lung capacity
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease
  • Increase in happiness, confidence and general mental well being

… the list goes on! Basically, you’ll live longer and happier if you run.

What’s the most Eco-friendly form of touring?

That’s easy… running! Perhaps even more eco-friendly than walking, as running itself can be used as a form of “transport” for longer distances. We are proud that Sydney Running Tours has Ecotourism Australia’s Advanced Eco-certification, which recognises our strong interpretation values, and our commitment to nature conservation and for helping local communities.
